Teaching Music B.S.
Teaching Music B.S. was created with the beginning music teacher in mind. Regardless of what school we went to, we all have to start somewhere. Being a certified teacher is much different than being a student-teacher and although schools attempt to prepare for the classroom there is still more that we don't know. We have so many expectations and aspirations when we graduate and the reality is that we won't end up in our dream job from the beginning. Nevertheless, there is so much we can learn from our first years of experience. The goal of this site is to provide beginning teachers with support, ideas, suggestions, news, educational tools, success stories, and not-so-successful stories in order to help them become better educators and music teachers.

I am a musician and have been playing since the 8th grade. Despite my late start, I grew a love for music and teaching before I graduated from high school. I attended Malone College and earned my B.S. in Music Education while performing with the Jazz, Concert and Marching bands, playing in brass quintet and horn choir, and singing in the Chorale.

I am finishing my second year of teaching at a small school in northeast Ohio where my experiences have been much different than expected. Despite the minor setbacks and the trials by fire, I have learned much and still have a desire to be active in the music world. When I'm not teaching, I also serve as my church's worship leader where I play the guitar and sing.
